Oman AgroFood 2024
Cultivating Business Opportunities Oman, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth & Water Resources, prioritizes food security through initiatives like the Oman Seed Bank and sustainable farming practices. Explore these advancements and many more at Oman AgroFood, the 6th International Trade Exhibition for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, from 2 - 4 December 2024 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, Muscat. This event aims to unite government decision-makers, international stakeholders, regional buyers, traders, and innovative technology providers to actualize the Sultanate's ambitious vision for transformative advancements and sustainable growth, specifically in the agriculture, food, and fisheries industries.

The Sultanate of Oman, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, is actively promoting research and development in agriculture to enhance food security. Initiatives include the establishment of the Oman Seed Bank to preserve local crop seeds and provide farmers with improved varieties. The Oman Plant Protection Center focuses on researching pests and diseases, offering training in pest management. Additionally, the Oman Agricultural Research Center is developing sustainable farming practices, including water-conserving irrigation and drought-resistant crops.

Government efforts extend to specific initiatives like supporting small and medium enterprises in local medicinal and aromatic plants, introducing water and fertilizer-efficient technologies like soilless cultivation and aquaponics, and implementing renewable energy (solar power) in net house operations to enhance sustainability and reduce costs.

Internationally, the Omani government collaborates with organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This partnership aims to improve fish marketing systems, enhance fish market infrastructure, develop legislation for fish product marketing, manage fish control systems, and promote fish processing. Notably, the FAO assists Oman in accessing new markets, exemplified by recent openings in Russia, Vietnam, and Brazil, with ongoing efforts to establish a market in China.

Oman AgroFood, the 6th International Trade Exhibition for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, will be held from 2 to 4 December 2024 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries Wealth.

This event aims to unite government decision-makers, international stakeholders, regional buyers, traders, and innovative technology providers. Through fostering collaboration, it seeks to actualize the Sultanate's ambitious vision for transformative advancements and sustainable growth, specifically in the agriculture, food, and fisheries industries.
